Okay, but actually.  Today was awesome because it was my first full day as a Directing Apprentice at the Powerhouse Theater!  Awesome (though sometimes stressful) times were had as we produced our version of “The 24 Hour Plays” or as we called it “Play in a Day.”  Definitely already meeting some people I really liked and I couldn’t be more excited for this summer to kick off.

I am determined to get back to this, despite summer’s distracting ways

I have discovered my problem with this blog: It has no longer become part of my daily routine, etc etc.  I just forget.  But as I leave for another summer full of summer stock, etc. I really really want to remember the good things.  And I love the idea of this blog, because I’ve never beeen good at a diary, and my LJ isn’t usually a daily thing.  So, push forth.

The past couple of weeks have been a lazy time, filled with good books, catching up on Bones and Castle a bit, new haircuts, panera, and seeing friends I don’t usually get to see.  Emmy and I drove up to Sturbridge to go to Cracker Barell and to see Ms. Stuart for the first time since Febuary 2010.  Only things that can happen in summer!  Then Joanna came over for our traditional viewing of Pretty Little Liars.  I am silly silly obsessed with this show, and glad to have it back on my screen.  As Lazytimes Part 1 of my summer comes to an end (Lazytimes Part 2 entails the entire month of August, so get ready for that madness) I am beyond excited to be heading to Poughkeepsie to be immersed in some theatrical creation for six weeks with some awesome people.  Something I missed in my recent months of rabid theatrical viewing.  Now if only I can get off my ass and actually pack for such events, we are in business.

Today, Jordana, Lilla, and I had lunch at an awesome little UWS restaurant (as per the urgent suggestion of a random woman on the subway) called Nice Matin before Lilla caught her train home. Being reunited was certainly most excellent while it lasted!

Lilla wants everyone to know that my day was awesome because she is currently sprawled out on my floor and gracing me with her presence.

Additionally, in light of her visit, tonight meant Kodama and Midnight in Paris (perhaps the loveliest move I have seen in ages). Perfect way to kick off June!

Also I saw Anything Goes. Sutton Foster can be fab on stage for me any time she wants.

Let’s talk about how I suck.  But I actually love the idea of this project and I am determined to get back on board.  Now that I am done with school, traveling, etc. for a little while, I really don’t have an excuse.  So, today was awesome because I reunited with Joanna, pretty much my only friend from highschool, and lunch, a visit to SLS and catching up times were had.  Then I spent the rest of the day glued to my couch reading The Hunger Games.  I realize I am super late to the party, especially by my usual YA Book standards, but no matter.  I don’t remember the last time I read a book that was so gripping, and it is was a fabulous reminder for why reading has always been it for me.  Also I’ve been reading non-fantastical books (although this isn’t really fantasy, more alternate universe I guess) recently, so it’s a nice reminder about what fabulous stories exist outside that realm.  I’ll probably be up half of the night on the sequel, let’s be honest.

Today was awesome because I met Julie Andrews.  I was glad I was able to come up with a succinct sentence to say to her that really expresses how I feel: “Thank you so much for your talent, it has brought me so much joy in my life.”  I was the first one to get a signing, and so she is actually holding my book when this picture was taken.  Cool!

After a day o’ exams, Alex and I spent a lovely evening tooling around Lincoln Center, and then came back to watch Six Degrees of Separation.  And then you know, whipped out some Dickinson just cause.

I’m not sure what happened to this blog.  I am sorry.  Usually I’m not this bad at keeping up with things.

Anywho, in a day spent in my room attempting to study for finals, it is quite hard to find the awesome in anything.  But the end is approaching! (MILLENIUM APPROACHES.  idk.)  My venti chai.  yes.  Brittany called me a gay man when when I told her what I got.  So, the usual.

Today was awesome because I got front row rush tickets to the Arcadia revival!  The stage is slightly raked downwards and it isn’t very high, so I’m not sure why the front was where the rush tickets are, but I’m not complaining.  I saw the show two years ago, and though I liked it, I was definitely a bit confused at the end.  The dialogue is fast and none of it is unimportant, so it really requires alertness.  Anyway, I did a bit of brush up, and went in determined to follow everything, and I did!  It was great, and now I understand why people call it one of the best modern English-language plays.  I don’t know if I can properly judge the quality of this production itself, except Go Away, Grace Gummer.

I’m going to try not to make all of my posts for the forseeable future “today was awesome because it was gorgeous outside,” but seriously. Today was awesome because it was gorgeous outside. It almost felt like I was in the Caribbean chilling on Lehman this morning, sundress and all.

I used SPF 70 and I burned a touch.  Notsome, but this weather was worth it.
